Because of its shape the legendary Opel GT was awarded the colloquial term  Baby-Corvette . At its launch the car was a sensation because it had absolutely nothing in common with the usually perceived staidness of Opel cars. The two-seater coupé was especially popular in the USA to where more than half of the total production has been shipped.
